I had been heavy my entire life as a young child to an adult. I never saw a problem with it until I hit my twenties. Everyone kept telling me these are the best years of your life. Enjoying college and hanging out with friends. I was not doing any of that. I made excuses of why I could not go places and I even passed up on internships and promotions that would make me visible to my peers. Being so close to 300lbs, slowly, started to affect everything I did. My family started to worry about my health and started to say things like, "Are you sure you want to eat that, try a salad instead." It made me madder then anything because I wasn't ready to change.
When that day came that made me wake up, it hit me like a brick wall. I had waited for over three hours to ride the Millennium Force at Cedar Point. I was on one of the first dates I had ever had with a guy I just met. We finally got to the front of the line and I sat down in the seat and tried to buckle the seat belt and it would not buckle. The man running the ride tried as hard as he could to buckle the belt, I think he could see it all over my face, me begging him to just get it buckled, but he couldn't. He apologized and unlocked everyone's lap bar, as, I walked off the ride people were yelling, "Look at the fat girl, she's to fat to ride." I was so emotionally over whelmed I made a promise to myself I would never let that happen again.
From that day forward I watched everything I ate and joined the YMCA. I had little knowledge about fitness and decided to sign up for a personal trainer. Fate brought me to Lisa and the Build A Body gym. For the past year I have went through intense, but motivating training sessions. So, motivating that I have now lost 90lbs and I became nationally certified with the National Exercise and Sports Trainers Association (NESTA). As my knowledge of the fitness world grows I continue to strive to bigger and better things. I work very closely with Lisa as she is mentoring me into my new life and I now have begun to enjoy my twenties. It is never too late to change!
I have been there and I understand what it is like to not feel comfortable in your own skin. I want to motivate each client that I get the privilege to work with the same way I have been motivated.
